A new type of moon rock is disclosed by the first lunar wanderer

Some moony wanderers have successfully discovered a new kind of moon rock. They are all the member of a lunar wanderer team. Their mission has named as Chinese Chang'e-3 moon mission. The team was led by Zongcheng Ling who is an astronomer at Shandong University in Weihai, China.

 They have to use a pair of optical spectrometers to identify the new rock. The news of this discovery is published in Nature Communications. There is a mystery about the formation of the moon. Most of the scientists believe that the moon was created by mixing two planets.  Others think that the impact of the collection between two planets gave just a partial lava ocean to the moon. The new discovered rock is formed by two different sources.

The discovered new rock is a kind of basalt. It is formed by cooling lava flows. It has silica minerals. This new basalt contains rich quantities of iron and titanium. There is a kind of mineral called olivine in this rock. The color of this mineral is olive-green. A pair of optical spectrometers helps to find out the characteristics of the rock.

In a nutshell, we can say that the new kind of basalt will help the scientists to unclose the mystery of moon's formation. This type of discovery can increase our knowledge about the moon. It helps us to improve our outlook towards the formation of this whole universe also.
